2025 Pool Rules & Entry Information
Overview
- The pool starts with the Sentry tournament on Thursday, January 2. The entry
deadline is 6 PM on Wednesday, January 1. The payment deadline is Wednesday, January 8.
- The objective is to select a team of 10 golfers from the list of
Eligible Golfers
who will win more money in official PGA Tour events during the 2025 season than those
golfers on all other teams.
- Each team must comprise, 10 golfers, no more and no less.
- Each golfer has been assigned a "buy" value which is the official amount
used for pool purposes.
- The total "buy" of your 10 selected golfers must not exceed the "Buy"
limit of $45,000,000.
- All teams must be entered on this website. Entries sent by mail or
e-mail will not be accepted.
- You can enter as many teams as you like. However, no two of your teams
may contain the same 10 golfers.
- Team ownership may be shared by two or more individuals.
- Each team must be assigned a name. It can be a nickname or the name of
the team owner.
- The standings will be updated weekly and will be posted on this website.
Eligible Golfers
- The list of eligible golfers includes the following:
- Golfers who finished in the top 125 on the 2024 FedEx Cup points
list. Their buy amount is their official 2024 PGA Tour earnings, or $1,200,000,
whichever is higher.
- Golfers who were not PGA Tour members in 2024 but earned an
equal or greater number of FedEx Cup points in the tour events in which they played
than the 125th golfer on the 2024 FedEx Cup points list. Their buy amount is $2,000,000
plus their official 2024 PGA Tour earnings.
- The top 10 golfers from the 2024 DP World Tour Race to Dubai who
were not already exempt for the Tour. Their buy amount is $2,000,000 plus their official
2024 PGA Tour earnings.
- Golfers who have a multi-year exemption based on a recent
prior tour win. Their buy amount is their official 2024 PGA Tour earnings, or $1,200,000,
whichever is higher.
- Golfers finishing in the top 30 on the 2024 Korn Ferry money
list. Their buy amount is $1,000,000 plus their official 2024 PGA Tour earnings.
- The golfer who finished first on the 2024 PGA Tour University
standings (Michael Thorbjornsen). His buy amount is $1,000,000 plus his official 2024
PGA Tour earnings.
- Golfers finishing between 126 and 150 on the 2024
FedEx Cup points list. Their buy amount is their 2024 official PGA Tour earnings, or
$1,000,000, whichever is higher. These golfers have conditional status only.
- A one-time rule has been added to deal with the Nick Dunlap
situation. You may recall he won the American Express tournament in January while he
was still an amateur. If he had been a pro, he would have won $1,512,000.
Given that he subsequently turned pro a few weeks later, I have set his "buy" price to
his 2024 PGA Tour earnings plus what he would have won in the American Express.
- The pool administrator may adjust a golfer's "Buy" price if he determines that
the golfer is under-valued to such a degree that he would be selected by most of the teams in
the pool. It's in the pool's best interest to avoid such an occurrence. Golfers designated for such
an adjustment will have their buy price set to their average official PGA Tour earnings for the
prior three years (2024, 2023, 2022). This year the buy price has been adjusted
for the following golfers:
- Victor Hovland
- Patrick Cantlay
- Matt Fitzpatrick
- Max Homa
- Jordan Speith
- Golfers using a medical extension, a lifetime exemption, or a career
money list exemption are ineligible.
Fees and Prizes
- The fee to enter the pool is $130 (Canadian) per team. All entry fees
must be paid in full by Wednesday, January 8.
- An e-transfer is the preferred payment method.
Payments by cheque will be accepted if they are delivered to me by the payment deadline.
Teams not paid for by the payment deadline will be removed from the pool.
- Each team is eligible for 9 different pools: the main pool and 8 monthly
pools (January through August).
- Approximately 15% of the teams entered will receive a prize at the end of
the season. Each monthly pool will have 5 winners. Each prize's dollar value depends on the
number of teams entered. A complete prize list will be published after the entry deadline
passes.
- A tournament is included in a monthly pool if it is scheduled to end in that
month. For example, if a tournament starts on May 28th and ends on June 1, it will be included
in the June pool, not the May pool.
- The team finishing in last place will receive a free entry into the 2026
pool.
- All entry fees collected, except for approximately $300.00, will be
paid out in prizes. The money held back is used to cover the free entry given to the last
place team from the prior year, website hosting fees, banking fees, and general administrative
expenses.
- Prize payments, including the monthly prizes, will not be distributed until
the completion of the BMW Championship on August 17. All prizes will be paid in Canadian funds.
If a participant wishes to be paid in non-Canadian funds, the amount will be converted at the
going exchange rate.
